Spartacus: Blood and Sand-Episode 9

by Jenn McD. on March 31st, 2010 | Drama
Every week I look forward to the new Starz series that has everybody hooked to their TV sets at 10pm on Friday. Spartacus: Blood and Sand is a new series that combines the elements of my 2 favorite movies, 300 and Gladiator, into a raw, bloody, sexually stimulating, and very entertaining 40 minutes. Last week’s episode did not fail to keep me happy.

The show opens with Lucretia and her new “friend” Licinea shopping for new masks. Due to the increasing interest by the “proper Roman women” in Spartacus and the other rock solid studs studying in the Ludus of Read More

My Favorite Idol Moments

by Jaclyn Abergas on March 29th, 2010 | Reality TV
Season 9 of American Idol has started again, and now, more than two months later, the Top 10 are performing on stage. On the first week of the finals, the contestants performed songs from The Rolling Stones. Last week, the Top 11 contestants performed Billboard #1 Hits with teen star, Miley Cyrus as a mentor. This week, Usher serves as the contestants' mentor for R&B/soul night.

Okay, I have a confession to make. I still watch American Idol, even though it's not really as good as it used to be before. It used to be all about talent before. And Read More

March Comedies

by Jaclyn Abergas on March 26th, 2010 | Comedy, Sitcom
Two brand-new sitcoms premiered on local US primetime television this March on FOX and NBC: Sons of Tucson and Parenthood.

Sons of Tucson

Sons of Tucson is a hilarious family comedy about three pre-teen brothers who hire Ron (played by Tyler Labine), a local slacker working at a sporting goods store, to fill in as their dad when their real dad goes to prison. Gary, Brandon and Robby Gunderson are the three brothers who concoct this plan. Gary, 11, is the leader of the pack and most likely will follow in the footsteps of his con-man father. Robby, 13, is the Read More

NBC and Thursday Night

by Ronald A. Rowe on March 24th, 2010 | Comedy
What is it about Thursday night, NBC, and comedy that go so well together? The Peacock Network has had a strangle hold on Thursday nights since I can remember.

Back in the '80s, it was the Cosby Show.  I think that was when it all started, but it may go back even farther.  Then came Cheers. When I was in college, Thursday night frolicking could not begin until 9:30 because we were all watching our good friends at Cheers until then.

It seems like it always has been that way.  As one show wanes, the next comes along to pick Read More

Usher-ed Out The Door

by Jenn McD. on March 22nd, 2010 | Reality TV
This past Thursday we marveled once again at the fab-u-lousity of America’s Best Dance Crew. After last week’s double elimination, the crews were narrowed down to five. The crews battled each other in the Usher Challenge and were given some of the R&B artist’s most memorable videos, while the dance mogul himself assigned each crew an extra task that they must place in their routine.

Thankfully, America did the right thing by sending Jungle Boogie back into the top. Jungle Boogie and Usher himself represent the ATL. These dance monkeys showed why they should be on top again when they Read More
