Last Monday’s episode of Gossip Girl was surely one of surprises! Before we get to them, though, I must welcome Dorota and Vanya’s new baby girl into the world. In true Upper East Side dramatic fashion, Blair was on her way to meet Chuck on top of the Empire State building to declare their love for each other once and for all, when Dorota went into labor. Chuck, who vowed that he would close his heart to Blair at 7:01 if she did not show up, and unknown to Dorota’s current state, left the Empire State Building with a truly broken heart.
After the stunt that she played at the Library Benefit, Little Jenny Humphrey was sentenced to spend the summer and her senior year in Hudson with her mother. Distraught by this news, Jenny fled to Chuck’s penthouse suite hoping to find Nate. Instead she found Chuck sulking with a drink in hand. Jenny joins him for a drink and then the unthinkable happened. Little J gave up her V-card to Chuck.
After Dorota’s baby had been born, Blair rushed to the Empire State Building in hopes that Chuck would still be there. She found her favorite flowers dumped in a trash can and immediately rushed to see Chuck. Startling Chuck and Jenny, Chuck rushed out to distract Blair and comes to find out why she had not shown up; overthrown with guilt for what he had just done, he distracts Blair while Jenny sneaks out the back window.
Meanwhile, Little J was so distraught about her decision to sleep with Chuck that she blurts to Eric what she had done. She swears him to secrecy, but later tells her brother Dan of her decision. Chuck and Blair have just arrived at the hospital where Jenny, Dan, Serena, Nate, and Eric are waiting. Chuck pulls out a ring box and is about to ask Blair to marry him when Dan punches Chuck in the face. Blair demands to know what is going on. Jenny admits she slept with Chuck and he confirms. He tries to explain that he thought it was over between him and Blair. Blair demands Jenny get out of the city and to destroy her should she return.
Blair ends it officially with Chuck and leaves with Serena for Paris. Chuck leaves for Prague and in the closing scene is jumped by some locals who try to steal Blair’s ring. He tells them he will give them whatever they want, but not the ring. A struggle ensues and a gun goes off. Chuck is left dying in the street.
This was an epic episode that leaves the viewer with a lot of questions. Hopefully they will all be answered in the fall when Gossip Girl returns for its 4th season in the Fall.
