Last winter I became hooked on a the best show ever– Burn Notice!  If you haven’t seen it yet and want to or are a dedicated watcher, this article is important!

Burn Notice shall be returning tonight at 10:00 (9:00 central).  So, because I am so hyped about the return, I shall do a recap of what has happened so far…

Michael Weston was an operative of the U.S. government, having served as a special forces officer before joining an agency (presumably the CIA).  While on an operation to work with a warlord in Nigeria, he called his contact and discovered he had been burned and the U.S. government was severing all contact.  He was diverted to Miami, where he was attended to by his ex-girlfriend, Fiona Glenanne, but abandoned by all his normal intelligence contacts and was under continuous surveillance with his personal assets frozen.  Efforts to reach his U.S. government handler eventually yielded only that someone powerful wanted him “on ice” in Miami. If he were to leave the city he would be hunted down and taken into custody.  So, using his skills, he became a private eye/mercenary to gain money so he could find out why he was burned and how to get back into the intelligence community.

In season two, Michael met Carla, an agent of the company behind his burn notice. She gave him tasks to complete for her organization, which were revealed to be preparation for an assassination.  This was interrupted by a former agent of Carla’s who went rogue.  Michael met him and realized Carla was the bad guy in this equation, not the rogue agent.  So, he battled with Carla’s bosses, called “the management”.  This ended with the rogue agent’s death, but management declared they would leave him alone.  This resulted in the police and old enemies going after him, though.

Season three started with Michael under surveillance by Detective Paxson, a Miami PD officer in an organized crime unit. He did some work that allowed her to arrest a criminal she had been hunting for a long time, so she stopped watching him.  Michael then met a man named Tom Strickler, who is very connected. Tom offered Michael the chance to re-enter the intelligence community if he did some work for him.  Before the mid-season hiatus, Michael was forced to kill Strickler in order to save Fiona’s life, which brings us to tonight.

So, what are you waiting for?! It looks good; dive right in!
