The CBS show Jericho, which depicted a rather graphic nuclear attack on the United States and the survivors who lived to tell the tale, is in the works for a movie premiere along the same lines. Thanks to a recent report from the television gossip news magazine, iF Magazine, it has been announced that the executive producer of the original series, Jon Turtletaub, is working on a Jericho movie.

“We’re developing a feature for Jericho,” Turteltaub told iF. “It would not require you to have seen the TV show, but it gets into life after an event like this on a national scale. It would be the bigger, full on American version of what’s going on beyond the town in Jericho.”

In 2007 Jericho aired nearly under the radar but garnered a quick and loyal following of fans. It was canceled later that year and was then brought back because a large group of fans readily protested the move. Rarely has an act been seen before by such a loyal following, but unfortunately the show was canceled again after the second season due to ratings.

The information, however, is only that Jericho is in early stages of development, which means that the entire idea teeters like a see-saw. It may not be set in stone, so there is still no reason to get hopes completely riled up.

The original show/broadcast included Skeet Ulrich, Lennie James, and Pamela Reed, but there is no word on whom Turtletaub is considering to star in the film or if there will be changes in the cast.
