couric afIt’s been nearly one year since Katie Couric was given the unexpected boot from The Today Show. I have written a few articles about Katie Couric’s transition from famed morning talk show host, to Dateline personality, to her own daytime syndicated talk show. A year after her entire career was in question, Katie seems to be thriving on her daytime talk show and is even receiving overwhelmingly popular ratings from her fans. Even though it is still in its first season, there is no doubt that Katie Couric is on a rise back to fame. For a dash of Katie’s peppy personality and a rundown of the latest events around the world, be sure to tune into Katie every day.

According to its website, Katie covers news and topics that people really care about. Enough with the frivolous news stories that lack a greater theme and meaning, Katie sticks to the big issues of the day. Essentially this talk show focuses on lifestyles, but has a strong news component to reflect Couric’s background, interests, and talents. As stated in a previous article, Couric hoped that the show would be a combination of The Oprah Winfrey Show and Today. The first season of Katie premiered on September 10, 2012 and featured Jessica Simpson in her first interview since her pregnancy. Katie also featured Sheryl Crow, who discussed motherhood and the controversy surrounding her relationship with ex-boyfriend Lance Armstrong. Couric definitely is not solely a newswoman, as her talent for lifestyle interviews became apparent in the first episode.

Since the first interview Katie has featured A-listers like Heidi Klum, Jennifer Lopez, and the author of Fifty Shades of Grey. In 2012 there was expected to be a talk show war between some of the leading talk personalities of the year. Couric prevailed over Steve Harvey, Jeff Probst, and Ricki Lake to be in the number one position with over 1.535 million viewers for the first episode. In fact, Katie earned the highest rating since the debut of Dr.Phil in 2002. This is a major accomplishment considering she was let go from her high-profile position only a few months prior. Katie Couric is a fan favorite and continues to impress viewers after upwards of 70 episodes of Katie. Many are saying that Katie is destined to be the next Oprah Winfrey.

Is this early success sustainable, or is it just a stroke of beginner’s luck? Be sure to check your local listings to see what time Katie is on in your area. If viewers’ ratings are any indication, you are sure to enjoy!4 recliners
