New York Reality TV School
Posted by MicheleReality TV, TV Personalities
Glance at Nielsen ratings for almost any night of the week, and you are bound to find a reality show in its top ten list. Listen to a conversation at the water cooler at the office, and quite often you’ll hear statements, such as, “Did you see Adam’s performance last night? It was excellent!” and “Oh my gosh! I hope he doesn’t offer her a rose next week.”
In addition to enjoying watching them, many people would love to have a role in one of these shows. And with reality shows covering topics from cooking to dating to trivial knowledge to pet grooming and more, there probably is a show for the interest that touches you. However, there are many people competing for these roles, and that is where New York Reality TV School can help.
Founded by Robert Galinsky, this school came to be after he worked with Jorge Bendersky. According to Robert, “Jorge contacted me for some training in order to get a role on Animal Planet’s reality series “Groomer Has It”. I trained Jorge for six weeks, he went to LA, booked the show, finished in the top 3 on the series, further became a spokesperson for the channel and had an amazing experience! I knew then that my methods and insights were right on, so I founded the school and the corporate communications division.”
Since its inception less than a year ago, New York Reality TV School has grown quickly. Offering a variety of workshops, classes can be quite full; some with hundreds of students. However, if you learn better in a smaller group, there are other options, including one-on-one coaching.
So, what do students learn at this school? “Our focus is making each person understand that they are the writer, director, producer, performer and editor of the appearance on the show,” stated Robert. “So the key things we teach are: confidence, authenticity and knowing your story.”
New York Reality TV School has made an impact on the reality tv scene. Angel Chang is part of the cast for Bravo’s “The Fashion Show”, and Jonathan Fable was a first place finisher on Fox’s “Hole in the Wall”, just to name a couple.
This school offers a unique education, as it helps students prepare for television. Robert notes that what is even more important than the possible fame is what this learning does for individuals, “My favorite part of running the school is watching people grow more confident about themselves and learning that they already have greatness within themselves, they just need to dig down, find it and bring it to the surface so we can watch them shine!”
