cnn pdCNN is making a huge bet on its new talk show that will feature Canadian host, George Stroumboulopoulos. The network seems to be trying to take a step back from 24-hour news coverage with this new show that will focus less on current events in the news and more on entertainment. This new show will explore the realms of pop culture, art, and technology with dashes of current events and politics. The new talk show will even feature some conversations about sports. George Stroumboulopoulos is known in Canada for being a fantastic talk show host, so CNN is making a huge bet that he can manage to gain a large following from American viewers. From the projection of reviewers, George Stroumboulopoulos is set to make a successful transition to CNN and the network is expected to make gains through diversifying the type of programs that they air.

CNN has been taking heat from political analysts, television reviewers, and general audiences over the last year for its sensational news stories and programming that lacks a certain genuine feel. CNN is bringing in the “big guns” with George Stroumboulopoulos to offset these notions. He is famous in Canada for his incredible interview skills, mostly his ability to put the interviewee and the audience at ease with his intimate interview techniques and his gentle voice. According to most reviewers, Stroumboulopoulos will be the “hot new talk show of the summer.” So far, the show has lined up several celebrities to make appearances, including Betty White, Keanu Reaves, Sharon Stone, and even Bill Maher. Rather than the usual daily news focus of CNN, this talk show will instead delve into the world of entertainment. Hopefully George Stroumboulopoulos will be able to break the sometimes-stale mold with celebrity interviews that can be found on many daytime talk shows.

CNN released a few possible topics that the show will highlight and the best descriptive word so far seems to be, “compelling.” Television reviewers have been buzzing over the fact that George Stroumboulopoulos will ask more difficult and deeper questions than the average talk show host. Currently he hosts George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight, which airs on the CBC Television Network in Canada. He is also known as an outspoken advocate for human rights and often works as an ambassador of the United Nations World Food Program. George Stroumboulopoulos is as personable and stylish as Anderson Cooper, but with a specialty in interviews about entertainment and sports news.

George Stroumboulopoulos’s name may not be easy to pronounce or spell, but he and his show are definitely to be watched this summer. Stroumboulopoulos will have a special premiere on Sunday, June 9th and will air regularly for 10 weeks on Fridays at 11 p.m. Eastern. Be sure to tune into this new CNN talk show for not only the latest entertainment gossip, but also to watch the birth of an international star, George Stroumboulopoulos.
