There are more than a handful of TV shows saying goodbye in the 2009-2010 TV season. Some were cancelled and some simply wanted to end their run.

There are more than a handful of TV shows saying goodbye in the 2009-2010 TV season. Some were cancelled and some simply wanted to end their run.

1. Lost (ABC)

After six seasons, Lost is set to reveal the island’s secrets when it ends on May 23. The show has kept, lost and gained fans throughout its entire six years. Some got frustrated with all the unanswered questions and some were more curious than ever. But the true fans stayed with them even through the “boring” seasons. Find out what happens to Locke, Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Hurley, Jin, Sun, Sayid, Claire, Desmond and Ben.

2. The Hills (MTV)

Another show has ended after six seasons. LC, Kristin, Heidi, Audrina, Lo, Brody and Stephanie will be saying goodbye to their fans.

3. Ugly Betty (ABC)

Ugly Betty ended its four-season life on ABC last April. Betty accepted a job and moved to London. Hilda got married. Justin got a boyfriend. And Wilhelmina finally got the editor-in-chief at MODE Magazine.

4. The Cleaner (A&E)

Starring Benjamin Bratt, The Cleaner was about a recovering drug addict who helped out other people with their addictions. The series lasted two seasons and 26 episodes before ending their show on A&E.

5. Flashforward (ABC)

ABC’s supposed answer to the space Lost will be leaving a blank. The show was good (but not as good as Lost). And the most probable reason for its demise is the very long hiatus. People lost interest. The series and season ends on May 27.

6. Heroes (NBC)

After dismal ratings that never really recovered since their first season, Heroes has been cancelled. A tale of ordinary people who discover their super powers, Heroes had a great beginning. But too many characters and ludicrous stories lost a lot of viewers.

7. Jon & Kate + 8 (TLC)

After their divorce, TLC has announced that there will no longer be a Jon & Kate + 8. Instead, it will replace the show with Kate + 8.

Are your favorite shows in this list? There are still a lot of other shows that have ended, are set to end and have been cancelled during the 2009-2010 season. Are you looking forward to the new shows that will be replacing them?

Continuing last week's post on the top new TV shows of 2009, we continue with the three new shows this week.

Continuing last week’s post on the top new TV shows of 2009, here are the next three top new shows.

Flashforward

We all know what Flashforward is by now. It’s the newest sci-fi series that deals with the future. Everybody blacks out for 137 seconds and glimpses a flash forward of their lives. The show is currently on hiatus and will be back in March 2010, leaving its viewers with so many unanswered questions. Who took Lloyd Simcoe? What’ll happen to Demitri? What’s the significant of the blue hand? We’ll have to wait until March 18 to find out the answers.

ABC, Thursday, 8/7c

The Good Wife

The Good Wife stars Julianna Margulies as Alicia Florrick, the wife of a former politician and takes place after he was jailed because of a very public sex and corruption scandal. To take care of their two children, Alicia decides to go back to her former work as a lawyer and gets a job as a junior associate. Diana Lockhart (played by Christine Baranski), a top litigator in her firm, tries to be her mentor, but Alicia realizes quickly that she can’t really trust anyone but herself to succeed.

CBS, Tuesday, 10/9c

Community

Community stars Joel McHale as Jeff Winger, a lawyer, whose license gets suspended after the state bar deems his degree invalid. He goes back to school and attends Greendale Community College in Colorado to get his law degree back. Along the way, he meets Britta (a girl he develops a crush on), Pierce, (a middle-aged tycoon played by Chevy Chase), Abed (a film student who keeps bugging him) and several other characters.

NBC, Thursday, 8/7c

Next shows: Cougar Town, The Cleveland Show, White Collar and The Middle

Have you been watching Flashforward? Wow! It’s becoming one of the most anticipated shows every Thursday night. The show was also meant to serve as a replacement for Lost when it airs it’s final episode in the Spring 2010 season. And wow, does it deliver.

If you haven’t watched it yet, let me introduce you to the main characters of Flashforward. (Before we start, just a quick recap about the show. At the premiere episode, for 137 seconds, the entire world experienced a blackout. For 137 seconds, the world came to a standstill. When people started waking up again 138 seconds later, they all knew one thing: they all dreamed of what they were going to be doing, six months later.)

Now back to the characters:

1. Mark Benford

Played by Joseph Fiennes, Mark Benford is an FBI agent based in LA who witnesses in his flashforward that he’ll be spearheading Project Mosaic. Project Mosaic investigates why the blackout happened and who made it happen.

2. Dr. Olivia Benford

Dr. Olivia Benford, played by Sonya Walger, is Mark Benford’s wife, and dreamed that, six months from then, she has left Mark and has met another man.

3. Demetri Noh

Demetri, played by John Cho, is Mark Benford’s partner, another FBI agent. He has a hard time telling people his flashforward because he saw nothing. He later finds out that he was going to be murdered. He uses Project Mosaic to find out who kills him and why.

4. Janis Hawk

Janis Hawk, played by Christine Woods, works with Demetri and Mark at the FBI. Her flashforward confuses her because she sees herself at the doctor’s office, having an ultrasound, and finding out she’s 5 months pregnant. She’s having a hard time figuring out why this has happened because she’s single and a lesbian.

5. Stanford Wedeck

Played by Courtney B. Vance, FBI Agent Stanford Wedeck is Mark and Demetri’s boss and approved Project Mosaic. He appoints Mark to spearhead the investigation.

5. Lloyd Simcoe

Lloyd Simcoe, played by Jack Davenport, plays the father of Dylan Simcoe, Dr. Olivia Benford’s patient, and the man Olivia sees in her flashforward.

6. Nicole Kirby

Nicole Kirby, played by Peyton List, is the babysitter for Charlie Benford, Mark and Olivia Benford’s daughter. She went missing for awhile because of her flashforward.

7. Bryce Varley

Bryce Varley, played by Zachary Knighton, is Olivia Benford’s intern and was about to commit suicide before the blackouts occurred. In his flashforward, he dreamed he was alive and sees it as a gift.

8. Aaron Stark

Aaron Stark, played by Brian F. O’Byrne, is Mark Benford’s AA sponsor. In his flashforward, he dreamed his daughter, who was killed in action in Afghanistan, is alive.

As of publication time, they’ve aired five episode into the season. Catch previous episodes on their website.

Ah, yes, TV's fall season has officially started. And with it comes the promise of new good shows. But that's not always the case.

This week, five shows premiered. There may be more but these are the five prominent shows from local TV.

Ah, yes, TV’s fall season has started officially. And with it comes the promise of new good shows, but that’s not always the case.

This week, four prominent shows shows premiered on network television.

On CBS:

Accidentally on Purpose

I talked about this show a couple of weeks ago, and I was a little excited to see it. It was fun. Jenna Elfman wasn’t trying to be over the top as Billie, and Ashley Jensen (who plays her best friend, Olivia) and Lennon Parham (who plays her sister, Abby) are the perfect companions for her. They were like the devil and the angel, and it wasn’t always apparent who the devil and the angel were. The baby-daddy, played by Jon Foster, was interesting but not quite charming. I’m not entirely sure I want to continue watching it.

On ABC:

Cougar Town

I loved this show. Courtney Cox is funny as Julie Cobb, the 40 year old divorced mother, who finds herself thrown back in the dating world again. Dan Byrd, who plays her teenage son, Travis, is equally memorable in this show. One memorable scene was when Cox and her son got home, and her son was giving her a hard time about her new posters all over town. Her neighbor comes to tease her, and she starts pushing him to the ground while she screams out all her frustrations. Every time he came back up, she pushed him back down. Definitely a show to watch out for!

Eastwick

Three people who live in the same town but have never spoken to each other before bond when they feel a connection after making a wish. They start to discover powers they never had before and use them to their advantage. It’s not a show I highly recommend. The characters were uninspiring, the acting was lackluster. Maybe if it was a half-hour show, I’d watch it.

Flashforward

Flashforward is promising. It actually reminds me of Heroes, Season 1. I’m hoping it won’t go the route of that show, though. It’s got curious me the way Lost got me curious, but it didn’t have the same writing. I’m more excited really because Jack Davenport is in the show. I am looking forward to next week.

Were you able to watch these shows? What did you think?
