Nominations for the 2011 Emmy Awards have just been announced. Do you agree with the nominations? What do you think?

Lead Actress In A Comedy Series

Laura Linney, The Big C
Edie Falco, Nurse Jackie
Amy Poehler, Parks and Recreation
Melissa McCarthy, Mike and Molly
Martha Plimpton, Raising Hope
Tina Fey, 30 Rock

Tina Fey has always dominated this category. I’d like to think that someone will come in from underneath and steal the win away from her. Maybe Laura Linney will do it . I don’t have high hopes though. I think Tina Fey’s got this in the bag.

Lead Actor In A Comedy Series

Matt LeBlanc, Episodes
Jim Parsons, The Big Bang Theory
Steve Carrell, The Office
Johnny Galecki, The Big Bang Theory
Louis C.K., Louie
Alec Baldwin, 30 Rock

First up, Matt LeBlanc’s nomination: super surprising! I’m not a big fan of the show but it is a different side of LeBlanc’s acting chops. I have a feeling they’re gonna give this award to Steve Carrell because it was his last year in The Office.

Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series

Jane Lynch, Glee
Betty White, Hot In Cleveland
Julie Bowen, Modern Family
Kristen Wiig, Saturday Night Live
Jane Krakowski, 30 Rock
Sofia Vergara, Modern Family

I am torn in this category. Betty White is amazing in Hot In Cleveland, she’s the best thing in the show! But Modern Family is not Modern Family without Julie Bowen and Sofia Vergara, especially Vergara. Kristen Wiig is good but the writing on SNL doesn’t match her comedic talent anymore.

Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series

Jon Cryer, Two and Half Men
Chris Colfer, Glee
Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Modern Family
Ed O’Neill, Modern Family
Eric Stonestreet, Modern Family
Ty Burrell, Modern Family

Okay, this needs to be said. If Jon Cryer or Chris Colfer win this award, it’s such a slap in the face for Modern Family. Okay, that’s over. Who has a shot at winning this award? I think it’s a cross between Eric Stonestreet and Ty Burrell.

Comedy Series

Glee
Parks and Recreation
The Office
Modern Family
30 Rock
The Big Bang Theory

I think this is a toss-up between 30 Rock and Modern Family. But my money’s on Modern Family.

So what do you think of the nominations? Discuss in the comments below.

Next week: the drama nominations.

Glee came back with its spring premiere last Tuesday. While I think it's lost a lot of its magic from the start of Season 1, the first episode definitely had its moments.

Glee came back with its spring premiere last Tuesday. While I think it’s lost a lot of its magic from the start of Season 1, the first episode definitely had its moments.

1. Rachel Berry

Whenever Rachel sings, it’s always a performance. Who could blame her? With a voice as powerful as hers, it would be a shame to keep it in the background. Her performance this week of “Gives You Hell” clearly demonstrates how she is meant to dominate the stage. If I was Mr. Schuester, I’d have a hard time deciding whether I should give others a chance or just give Rachel the lead solo every time. Because she’s just THAT good.

2. Jayma Mays

I love Jayma Mays. I think she is the cutest thing on the planet. When I heard she was going to be on Glee, I was so excited. She was annoying in Ugly Betty, but it’s hard to stay mad at her because she’s so cute. And in Glee, she plays such a lovable character that you can never be mad at. And I think it’s brave of her character to tell Will to get a life first before committing in a relationship with her, even though it’s breaking her heart.

3. Sue Sylvester

Sue Sylvester. No matter how much Will protests, they will never get rid of Sue because she is one of the best antagonists on TV. EVER. If you’re not tuning in to watch the Glee Club performances, you’re probably tuning in to find out what Sue has up her sleeve this time. I know I am.

Did you tune in to Glee’s premiere last Tuesday? What did you think?

For a lot of us, we have dedicated ourselves to living a green life at home. But what about outside the home? What about at work? Is it easy to translate the same dedication to a green life at the office or at work?

Here are some ideas.

Last time, we talked about the Golden Globe winners for Drama TV programs. This week, let’s talk about the comedy TV winners.

Best TV Series – Comedy
Glee

I’ve always included Glee in my previous Couch Tuber articles as one of the best shows that came out in 2009. However, this time, I’m not totally sure about the Best TV series win. I was rooting for The Office or Modern Family to win. I still think The Office has one of the best comedy writing in TV today. And Modern Family just gets funnier and funnier as it gets more absurd. But Glee was able to infuse comedy and music together on TV successfully, so I think they do deserve that award. The new season of Glee starts in April 2010.

Wednesday, 9/8c, FOX

Best Performance By An Actress
Toni Collette – United States of Tara

United States of Tara stars Toni Collette as Tara Gregson, a wife and mother of two and also suffering from dissociative identity disorder. When she doesn’t take her drugs or is under a lot of stress, she transforms into one of her multiple personalities, including T (a wild and flirty teenager), Alice (an old-fashioned housewife) and Buck (a loud, beer-drinking Vietnam vet who also happens to be male). Set in Overland Park, Kansas, her family supports her, except for her sister, Charmaine.

Monday, 930/830c, Showtime

Best Actor In A TV Series – Comedy
Alec Baldwin – 30 Rock

Everybody knows Alec Baldwin. And everyone knows 30 Rock. And everyone knows 30 Rock is not the same without Alec Baldwin, although I’ve yet to watch a 30 Rock episode without Alec Baldwin. He’s still the best thing there, I believe.

Thursday, 930/830c, NBC

Next week, we’ll talk about the Golden Globe mini-series winners.

We've watched them, we've loved them, we've tuned in every week since then. Here is a list of the best new shows of 2009.

We’ve watched them, we’ve loved them, we’ve tuned in every week since then. Here is a list of the best new shows of 2009.

1. V

V is a re-imagining of the 1983 miniseries of the same name. Starring Elizabeth Mitchell, Morena Baccarin and Scott Wolf, V is about an alien species who have come in peace to Earth but actually have dangerous plans that do not include taking care of humans. It premiered on November 3, 2009, on ABC and is currently on hiatus. It will resume its schedule on March 30, 2010.

2. Modern Family

Modern Family is an American mockumentary comedy, which premiered on September 23, 2009, on ABC. It follows the lives of Jay Pritchett (played by Ed O’Neill), his new wife, his son Mitchell (played by Jesse Tyler Ferguson), who has adopted a Vietnamese baby with his partner, and his daughter Claire (played by Julie Bowen), who is determined to have a normal and rebel-free family.

3. Glee

Glee is a very confident show. They aired their pilot episode over the summer but did not show the rest of the season until its premiere in the Fall 2009 season. Glee is a musical comedy from Ryan Murphy (Popular) about the members of a high school glee club. Will Schuester (played by Matthew Morrison) is determined to bring them to the top and lose their loser status forever. Rounding up the cast are Lea Michele, Jayma Mays and Jane Lynch, as the evil cheerleading coach determined to stop Will from succeeding. Season 1 ended December 9, 2009, but is now out on DVD. Season 2 will premiere this April on Fox.

Stay tuned for more! Up next: Flashforward, The Good Wife and Community.

What do you think?

I don’t agree with the entire list. I’ve never liked Curb Your Enthusiasm and 24. And I believe some great shows have been omitted from the list.

My top 5 would include: (in random order)

5. Lost

Lost wasn’t quite consistent, but I guess you always gotta have the bad with the good. It was, at times, confusing, but it was meant to be confusing. The show wanted its viewers to ask questions all the time. And that’s what the viewers did. Don’t forget to tune in starting February 2010 on ABC for the last season of Lost.

4. The Office

The Office works because of its ensemble cast and its writing. It’s as zany as zany can be, but it still smacks of normalcy.

3. Glee

It’s only been on TV for a couple of months and half a season, but it’s such a great break from monotony in TV. It takes time to grow into the show, but when you have, you’ll be glad you did. It’s just so over-the-top and silly, it’s hilarious.

2. Damages

Glenn Close delivers the best performances in this show. I think Damages is truly an actors’ show because the writers have given them a lot of material to showcase their talents. But you know what I like? Their storylines border on the extreme but you never really notice.

1. Arrested Development

Come on. How can any top 10 TV show of the decade list not include Arrested Development? It was the most original, bluntest and truly absurd show on TV. It’s such a shame that a lot of people did not appreciate it and it lasted only three seasons. But we’ve got the movie to look forward to!

I don’t think I could list more than five because there are shows from this decade that are already gone that I was either not particularly fond of or never really got to watch. So, I’m passing the torch to you. What are your top 5 or top 10 shows of the decade?

So, Season 1 of Glee ended last Wednesday. It was a good, good ending. It wasn't the best but they ended on a high note and created storylines that we can look forward to in Season 2.

If you have not yet watched the season finale of Glee (aired December 9), please do not read the rest of this article unless you want to read major spoilers.

So, Season 1 of Glee ended last Wednesday. It was a good, good ending. It wasn’t the best, but they ended on a high note and created storylines that we can look forward to in Season 2.

1. Rachel and Finn

Now that Finn knows the truth about Quinn and Puck, will something ever happen between Rachel and Finn? Or will Finn simply put all his efforts on the Glee Club and try to forget about his ex-girlfriend? Will Rachel continue to be there for Finn in the hopes that he’ll eventually profess his love for her?

2. Quinn and Puck

Is Quinn going to keep the baby, or is she still going to give the baby to Terri? Will she turn to Puck to help her? Where will she live now? Will she live with Puck or with Terri? What will happen to her after she gives birth?

3. Will and Sue

What will happen to the Sue Sylvester Express? Clearly, this is the most exciting storyline after the Glee Club competitions. What is up next on Sue Sylvester’s sleeve? How will Sue make Will suffer? Will he be able to fight Sue back with his own plans? Will Sue succeed in toppling the Glee Club and bringing the former glory back to the Cheerios? Or is Will going to do the unthinkable and topple the Cheerios and Sue Sylvester from their high spot?

4. Will and Emma

Now that Will and Terri are separating and getting a divorce, what will happen to Will and Emma? Will Emma go back to her job at the school? Will they start living together? What will happen to Ken when he finds out?

5. Terri

And speaking of Terri, now that Will is divorcing her, will she still be adopting Quinn’s baby? Will she still continue her job at the school as the nurse? How will she explain to everyone about her fake pregnancy?

6. The Glee Club Regionals

What will happen to Glee Club and the Regionals? What will they perform? Will Finn stay on at the Glee Club, even with Quinn and Puck there with him? Will Sue Sylvester cheat again to make sure the Glee Club goes down?

What do you guys think? What do you think will happen in Season 2 of Glee? Leave your comments below!

Don’t forget to catch Season 2 of Glee in April 2010. Glee Season 1 DVD comes out on December 22, 2009.

A new comedy TV program for high school kids will be premiering this fall on FOX. Will it be good? Or will it be another forgettable one?

A new comedy TV program for high school kids will be premiering this fall on FOX. Will it be good? Or will it be another forgettable one?

Glee is the story Will Schuester and the McKinley High School’s Glee Club. Schuester (played by Matthew Morrison) serves as the Glee Club’s manager and a teacher at the same high school. After years of staying below the radar, Will Schuester makes a decision to reinvent the Glee Club and take them to the top, all the way to the Nationals.

Starting this fall, prepare to be dazzled by Glee and its members:

Will Schuester – a teacher at McKinley High School and the Glee Club’s manager. He vows to create an award-winning group out of the most unlikely bunch.

Emma Pillsbury – played by Jayma Mays, she helps Will bring out the best in the Glee Club.

Rachel Berry – played by Lea Michele, she’s the perfectionist with true talent and uses the glee club to make her famous.

Finn Hudson – played by Cory Monteith, he is the high school quarterback with the secret Motown voice he tries to hide from his popular girlfriend and teammates.

Together with the other members of the glee club, including Kurt (a nerdy, dramatic soprano), Mercedes (who refuses to sing back-up), Arty (the school bullies’ favorite guitarist to harass), and Tina (who needs to conquer her stuttering) they comprise the cast of this show.

Created by Ryan Murphy (Nip/Tuck, Popular), the shows promises great acting and great writing. In fact, the network believes in it so much that they premiered the show last May and only will bring back new episodes in the fall. But for now, catch the premiere episode online.
