The Event

by Ronald A. Rowe on October 1st, 2010 | WMG
NBC may have a cult hit on its hands. The Event premiered this week to so-so ratings. Why the brain trust at the Peacock network chose to launch their most hyped new series opposite Monday Night Football is a question for more savvy ratings analysts. All I know is that the prototype fan of shows like Lost and 24 – the exact target audience for The Event - also loves him some football on Monday nights.

Questionable scheduling choices aside, The Event has all the ingredients in place to become the next must-watch-every-minute-of, endlessly-debated-in-Internet-chat-rooms, obsessively-analyzed-show in the mold of Lost. Read More

The Last Lost at Long Last

by Ronald A. Rowe on June 2nd, 2010 | Drama
Lost is over. After five incredible seasons and one meandering, ill-conceived season, the finale was absolutely incredible. The last two episodes, all three and a half hours, had everything that I had come to love about Lost.

The revelation that the ‘flash-sideways’ was a creation of the group’s collective consciousness even erased some of my qualms about the lack of coherent logic over the last season. Rather than trying to establish a logical framework, the writers cleverly eliminated the need for it. Applying what I know now retroactively to season 6, I have to take back Read More

Say Goodbye

by Jaclyn Abergas on May 19th, 2010 | Comedy, Drama, Reality TV, Sitcom
There are more than a handful of TV shows saying goodbye in the 2009-2010 TV season. Some were cancelled and some simply wanted to end their run.

1. Lost (ABC)

After six seasons, Lost is set to reveal the island's secrets when it ends on May 23. The show has kept, lost and gained fans throughout its entire six years. Some got frustrated with all the unanswered questions and some were more curious than ever. But the true fans stayed with them even through the "boring" seasons. Find out what happens to Locke, Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Hurley, Jin, Sun, Sayid, Claire, Read More

Lost Countdown

by Ronald A. Rowe on May 17th, 2010 | Drama
Lost is nearing the end. Last week they promised, PROMISED, us some answers. The Man in Black's motivations would be revealed, the promos told us.

So what did we get?  Answers that spawned more questions.  Incomplete answers to questions we never asked.  A new character with unexplained motives and backstory used to fill in the motives and backstory of old characters.

Jacob was a dimwitted wuss before he became, well, Jacob.  The Man in Black was a good guy, or at least a neutral guy by any measure, right up until the time his murderous liar of a fake mother Read More

Lost-er

by Ronald A. Rowe on April 7th, 2010 | Drama
Lost has lost it. The show is careening toward an ending with reckless abandon. I wrote about my concerns for this last season when the show first came back after a long hiatus. Now, my fears are confirmed.

ABC has got me. The show has jumped the shark for sure, but with only eight episodes left I can’t walk away now. I tune in every Tuesday with less enthusiasm than the week before. The Richard-focused episode was fairly epic, but overall the season so far has been filled with random “weird for weird’s sake” nonsense.

My biggest problem Read More
