This week, when deciding which drama show to review, an unlikely candidate came to mind. A show that is known for its smart, real humor and situations, along with its groundbreaking comedic pairing does not strike most people as a typical drama program. However, I would like to argue that Modern Family is in fact a sort of drama in disguise. From the first time I saw an episode, I immediately looked past the comedy and saw the intricate, emotional storylines that are conveniently hidden behind the outward comedy of the show. Let me explain.

Every show has its hit-or-miss episodes, especially in the comedy genre: humor falls short, jokes go over the top, or the writers try to take a more "serious" route with a storyline. All can be mood killers when you're expecting an easy laugh. However, the one show that has yet to disappoint me on the humor front is definitely Modern Family. Although I don't tune in every week, whenever I do it is sure to make me literally LOL.

We've watched them, we've loved them, we've tuned in every week since then. Here is a list of the best new shows of 2009.
1. V
V is a re-imagining of the 1983 miniseries of the same name. Starring Elizabeth Mitchell, Morena Baccarin and Scott Wolf, V is about an alien species who have come in peace to Earth but actually have dangerous plans that do not include taking care of humans. It premiered on November 3, 2009, on ABC and is currently on hiatus. It will resume its schedule on March 30, 2010. (more...)
