After starting as an attempt to duplicate the success that NBC had with The Office, Parks and Recreation has really come into its own in the past two seasons. There are a number of factors. The lead character, Leslie Knope, has transitioned from a female Michael Scott to her own person. A talented and diverse ensemble cast helps a lot. Good writing is essential. The addition of new cast members – Rob Lowe and Adam Scott - infused new life.

Long Live Friday Night Lights

Although Friday Night Lights does not regularly air on television anymore, its legacy will go down in television drama history as one of the most real, best cast, best acted shows, with some of the most intense story lines ever aired on television. Although you cannot watch this show weekly anymore, it still deserves a review, and can be found at any major store that sells DVDs, as all of the seasons have been turned to DVD, making them superb gifts for this holiday season.
