The female lead of the ABC situation comedy Melissa and Joey, Mel (Melissa Joan Hart) is a city councilwoman, living in Toledo, Ohio. In the fallout after a political scandal, Mel's sister, Meredith, is sentenced to prison for money laundering and her brother-in-law skips the area to avoid charges of running a Ponzi scheme. Mel then finds herself taking care of her niece, Lennox (Taylor Spreitler) and nephew Ryder (Nick Robinson).
