Since the premiere of its latest season last February, The Amazing Race has gone to four continents, nine countries and eliminated eight teams. The show has reached its final leg, and the race is down to its last three teams.

Brent and Caite

Brent (28) and Caite (20) are models from South Carolina that are dating. They have not been well-received in the race and are known particularly for their feud with Carol and Brandy. Caite took offense at their earlier statement about “Caite’s tiara” and has been trying to always be one step ahead of them. Caite and Brent got their payback when they U-turned Carol and Brandy in the Singapore leg, forcing them to do both Detours and eventually eliminated them from the race. Caite is the last woman standing, and their team came in first in the last episode, securing their spot in the Final Three Teams competing for one million dollars.

Jet and Cord

Jet (30) and Cord (29) are brothers and cowboys from Oklahoma. They were considered the underdogs at first until they finished in first place several times. Other teams started to see them as a threat and tried to step up their games to eliminate the cowboys, but the only team who has succeeded in putting them in last place were themselves. In the Seychelles leg, they found the Pit Stop but failed to decipher the map in the bottle they had to retrieve in their Roadblock. They had to go back to their boat, assemble the map and then run to the Pit Stop. Carol and Brandy, who were supposed to be in last place, overtook them and Jet and Cord came in at last place. But good news for them because it was a non-elimination race and they were still in a race but had to complete a Speed Bump, as well as the regular Detour and Roadblocks in the next challenge.

In the next challenge, Jet and Cord became the first team to start the race from last place, complete the Speed Bump, the Detour and the Roadblock and finish in first place.

Dan and Jordan

Dan (24) and Jordan (22) are brothers from Rhode Island. They have been very low-key during the race and have succeeded in finishing in a good standing, never coming in last but never coming in first, until they got to Singapore and they were the first ones to get to the Singapore Flyer, where they had to walk to the next capsule 541 feet above the ground. At that moment, Jordan realized he was afraid of heights. Dan, however, was able to convince and motivate Jordan to finish the walk and finish the Fast Forward challenge and come in at first place.

Who do you think will win this season’s The Amazing Race? And where do you think they’ll go next? Tune in to CBS on Sunday, May 9, 2010, at 8/7c to find out who will win one million dollars!

Reality shows have been played on TV for it seems like forever now. And I don't think it's going away for a long, long time.

Reality shows have been played on TV for what seems like forever now. And I don’t think they’re going away for a long, long time. Reality shows have a contrasting effect on people. People either love them or they hate them. There are some shows that are always interesting and I look forward to watching every season, like Project Runway, The Amazing Race, etc. And then there are reality shows that are just bordering on unnecessary, superficial and plain annoying. These are the shows that make people curse the existence of reality shows because these shows are sometimes headlined by people who just want to be under the limelight.

Admittedly, I love reality shows. But only to a limit. There are some shows, okay, a lot of reality shows that I would not dare watch. And there are some that I look forward to watching every season. These are some of them.

1. Project Runway

I love fashion and that’s why I love Project Runway. I love seeing new pieces constructed every week. They’re not always the most fashionable or the most wearable, but it’s always interesting to see what fashion designers can create under the most enormous amount of pressure. I’ve not always agreed with the judges each time, but I still watch it every time.

2. The Amazing Race

The Amazing Race is the reality show that fulfills the dreams of almost everyone in the entire world: to race around the world and get paid a million dollars if you emerge on top. It’s not the easiest situation, but it gets really crazy! It’s been 13 seasons, but it always gets interesting. The fact that there are different types of people joining every season and never put into the same situation twice is enough reason to tune in and see how they’ll react to every situation they’re thrown in.

3. American Idol

It has become boring the last two seasons, but American Idol still remains a favorite. I love listening to music, and I’m always trying to discover new music to listen to. American Idol gives me a chance not only to do that but to witness the evolution of a new artist. Sometimes that doesn’t happen, but, hey, it’s still fun to watch and pretend to be a judge.

What about you? Do you watch reality shows? What’s your favorite?
