In addition to their new hit, Huge, ABC Family is rolling in with another hit with Pretty Little Liars. The show follows a group of 4 girls with many secrets and the disappearance of their 5th friend, Allison, who knew everything.

Aria- She is the “rebel” of the group. After Allison disappeared, Aria and her family moved to Iceland for a year. Now they’re back, and Aria suddenly feels like an outsider in her hometown. She’s reconnecting with her old friends, but only time will tell if their secrets will bond them together or tear them apart

Hanna- Hanna is the girl who doesn’t take ‘no’ for an answer. The more you tell her no, the more she’ll want it…and take it. It might be a pair of designer sunglasses, junk food, or her chastity-pledging boyfriend’s virtue. Hanna is good at keeping up appearances, but what would people say if they knew about her run-in with the law? Hanna rules the school, but how easy would it be to topple Hanna’s reign. Just how far would she go to save it?

Spencer- classic overachiever, Spencer balances school, a high-powered internship, charity work, the field hockey team and maintaining super popularity status — all without breaking a sweat. This is the girl who could stand up to Alison when no one else would. When she develops a forbidden crush on her sister’s fiancé you have to wonder if Spencer can keep it together.

Emily- Emily Fields’ life is picture-perfect. It should be. After all, her mom makes sure everything in their world is just so. She’s a star athlete with a popular boyfriend, but Emily feels like an outsider. Maybe that’s why she’s drawn to Maya, the new girl in town. They become fast friends, but Emily’s feelings are a little more complicated than simple friendship. Question is, how far will she dare take them? Or will she have to hide them, too?

Tune into ABC Family Tuesdays at 9pm.

This past Monday’s episode of Gossip Girl was very…interesting. In the beginning of the season Lily was gone for quite a few episodes. The reason they gave was that that Cece, Lily’s mother, was sick and needed treatment by a special doctor. Well, well, well, after last week’s episode, we saw that it wasn’t Cece who was sick; it was Lily herself, or so we’re told.

In addition to this revelation, Dr. William Van Der Woodson, Serena and Erik’s father, comes back to check on Lily since her cancer has been in remission, and he was her attending physician. This immediately sets the tone for Monday’s episode. Rufus feels that William has come back to New York to win Lily back, and he is determined to make sure that doesn’t happen. After a failed attempt to kick William out at the traditional Humphrey/Van der Woodson brunch, Rufus decides to have William’s request to live in the same building as them denied.

Serena learns of what Rufus has done and tells her mother. William is being honored at an annual alumni event, and Rufus, who was supposed to accompany Lily, decides not to go. Lily and Serena agree.

Blair has been struggling with a decision about housing for next year. Lately she has been deciding to spend more time on the Upper West side near Colombia University. The night of the Colombia alumni event, Blair attends in support of William and runs into the Dean of Admissions. It turns out that Chuck had been trying throughout the whole year to have Colombia accept her and have her transfer. With this meeting, she is offered acceptance to Colombia and is able to deny a Gossip Girl blast that said she wasn’t attending.

Rufus decides to fight for Lily with some encouragement from Eric. He shows up and declares that he doesn’t mind if William sticks around but asks her if she could find another doctor. Before she can answer, William makes his acceptance speech for the award he received. He ends with a public declaration for Lily, which infuriates Rufus. Lily becomes angry with Rufus and tells him to stay at his loft in Brooklyn for the night.

Serena takes advantage of the situation and invites William over for hot chocolate. Rufus calls and asks Serena to tell Lily to call him. She ignores his requests in hopes that Lily and William will get back together.

If you have a DVR, you certainly could record it, but what if you don’t own a DVR? If you have Netflix, many shows are available there, but what if you don’t use Netflix? Luckily, many popular TV networks post recently-aired episodes on their Web sites. This means that you can catch up on missed episodes of Grey’s Anatomy or House with just a couple of clicks on your computer, as long as you have access to the internet. Two major television networks that participate in this posting of episodes are ABC and FOX.

Here are some of my favorite aspects about being able to watch shows online:

1. It’s free, really. All you have to do is visit their Web sites and find the link that says “Watch Full Episodes.” No strings attached.
2. It makes it easier for me to multi-task. We have two TVs in our household, and neither are in suitable places for getting things done. I like to use my laptop to watch the shows so that I can simply tote it to a new location (e.g. ironing laundry in one room and folding in another).
3. I don’t have to worry about storing anything or deleting anything. I can’t “forget” to record it because the TV networks are doing all the work for me. Also, I don’t use any storage space on any of my devices, so I don’t have to worry about deleting anything either.

Naturally, there are also some negative aspects about watching shows online. Certainly, most computer monitors don’t offer the large size and high definition that TVs offer. The online episodes also still include commercials, though less than a regular airing of the episode. Lastly, you may encounter technical issues, especially if your network doesn’t have the capacity for the viewing of an episode. However, for the most part, I’ve viewed many missed episodes without a problem and find it the easiest way to catch up on missed shows or to simply tune into something new while getting some work done.

A few important facts to know:

1. I am a faithful fan of The Office. I have been watching since the beginning.

2. I loved watching “Niagara”, Jim & Pam’s wedding episode. It was so well done that it had me crying, both from laughing so hard and being so moved by the poignancy.

3. Birth scenes usually bring me to tears. Being a mom, it reminds me of that amazing moments when I met my children.

Having shared those facts, I have to state that I didn’t like last night’s back-to-back episodes, “The Delivery 1 & 2″. Sure, there were a few good moments: Pam’s fear of not being able to “do this”. It is a real feeling that many women experience. Dwight throwing numerous weapons out of his car window as he was being pulled over by a police officer. Nothing like Dwight to remind us how crazy he is! Kevin’s excitement to eat extra meals with a friend was fairly amusing.

But the sad truth about last night’s one hour of The Office is that it left me feeling disappointed. There weren’t many scenes that made me laugh. The arrival of the baby wasn’t that moving. And the accidental breastfeeding of another baby was so predictable. As soon as the baby started crying, I (and the rest of the world) knew it wasn’t Baby Halpert.

So, while I won’t give up on The Office yet, I am fearful that it’s days may be numbered. I hope that this show hasn’t jumped the shark.

In my opinion, Mythbusters is one of the best shows on TV, and most definitely the best science show available. The show blends humor and science artfully, making it a very nerdy comedy (or a very funny nerd show, depending on your opinion).

The show is primarily hosted by Jamie Hyneman (the owner of M5 Industries, a special effects workshop) and Adam Savage (an artist/movie maker/designer/magician). The show has Tony Belleci, Kari Byron, and Grant Imahara hosting the secondary plot of the show. The show is filmed in M5 Industries’ workshop/warehouse in San Fransisco.

They have a general habit of just blowing stuff up, as most myths involve death or destruction. My two favorites were the flaming pilot’s hair myth and the explosive concrete removal myth. In the pilot myth, a Canadian fighter pilot was flying his jet when a spark from his radio sent his extravagant hair up in flames. The myth says the pure oxygen environment caused a lethal explosion, but the mythbusters proved that the hair would burn, though it would not explode lethally. According to the other myth, concrete companies have been using different varieties of explosives to blast hardened concrete out of old cement trucks. This was busted, as the amount of explosive needed would damage the trucks. So, after learning this, they packed the truck full of explosive and blew it apart. It literally disappeared.

The show is fun because Adam and Jamie like to explain what actually causes the myth to happen… or not to happen. They explain the factors that go into an experiment. The science is interesting to a science-interested person like me. At the same time, the humor prevents it from being science class, although we did watch it in science one day.

I think Mythbusters is one of the best science shows on TV, and great for all!

Season 6 of Grey’s Anatomy finally has premiered, and they already are three episodes in. It wasn’t the best start, but they did give us a good finale the previous season. It’s hard to live up to that expectation.

If you haven’t watched it yet and you plan to, STOP AND DON’T READ ANYMORE! MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD!

First things first, George O’Malley. I love the fact that everybody just stopped and tried to make sense of his death. And they should because that’s how much of an impact he made on everyone at Seattle Grace Hospital. I guess, because he’s my favorite character, I was a little disappointed that they didn’t give him more of a tribute. But that’s just me.

Next, Izzie. Izzie was less annoying. I’m sorry to all the Izzie lovers out there. I used to like (not love) Izzie, but ever since Denny died, she has been completely annoying and a know-it-all. But in this episode, she wasn’t. As much. So that’s a good thing. I am glad that she didn’t play a cancer victim, all negative and annoying. And that they created a tough character in Izzie with cancer. So, maybe she’ll be more interesting to watch now.

Dr. Miranda Bailey. I understand why they suddenly turned her into this cold, uncaring surgeon. I’m worried they might not be able to sustain that demeanor and eventually turn her back into a strict but caring attending. And that’s fine by me.

Meredith and Derek. There wasn’t a big storyline on them and their love story, which was good because it does mean they’re both growing up and maturing within the relationship. Favorite parts: Alex and Izzie walking in on them at the house, on their honeymoon, by the staircase, and, when Meredith broke down in the locker room and grieved for George, right before Derek walked in. I’m hoping they finally make their wedding official and get married at City Hall.

Mark Sloan. Mark was really cute when he was hinting at Lexie that she should think about putting some stuff in his apartment. Perhaps he can get her a drawer. A grown man, acting like a teenager but forcing himself not to act like a teenager. That was cute.

So, did you like the premiere episode of Grey’s Anatomy Season 6? Will you tune in and find out how the rest of the season is going to pan out? Let’s talk about it!

The new summer season has started and with it comes new shows.

1. Make It Or Break It

Make It Or Break It is the story of four teenagers trying to survive the competitive world of gymnastics and balancing a normal personal life. There’s nothing new about it, but I love the fact that the characters have very extreme personalities. Emily is a gymnast scholar at the Rock and will do anything to ensure her family lives a good life. Payson Keeler, the top gymnast, works hard and sacrifices her teenage life to make it to the top. Kaylie Cruz breaks the rules when she secretly dates another gymnast from the club. And super competitive Lauren Tanner will do anything to make sure she’s on top including selling out her friends.

Mondays, 9/8c, ABC Family

2. NYC Prep

NYC Prep is a reality show about the lives of prep school kids in NYC. The show follows the lives of Jessie, PC, Kellie, Camille, Sebastian and Taylor as they try to live each day to get closer to their dreams. The show is a bit shallow, considering the central idea. If you want to know what kids do to pass time in NYC, you can try and watch this show. Otherwise, avoid the show. It’s intended for kids of the same age anyway.

Tuesday, 9/8c, Bravo

3. 10 Things I Hate About You

Based on the movie of the same title, 10 Things I Hate About You is the story of Kat and Bianca Stratford, two teenagers who’ve just entered the world of Padua High. Kat is a feminist who wants to save the world and get out of high school as fast as she can. Bianca is a social butterfly, determined to get into the good graces of the most popular girl in school. It’s very cute and while it resembles the movie’s storyline, they’ve managed to change some things around and offer a fresh spin on the show.

Tuesdays, 9/8c, ABC Family

4. The Fashion Show

The Fashion Show is Bravo’s replacement for Project Runway, which has moved to the Lifetime Network. The show stars Isaac Mizrahi and Kelly Rowland and features 16 designers competing for the grand prize of $125,000 and a chance to sell their designs in the retail market. It’s a great show, and the designers have turned out amazing pieces, but I do miss the drama of Project Runway.

Thursday, 10/9c, Bravo

By now, everyone’s favorite show’s latest season has started. And questions are pouring in. What’s going to happen? If only we could fast forward to the future to find out the end. But we can’t, and we have to satisfy ourselves with only our questions.

Personally, I want to know so much about my favorite shows. BE CAREFUL! Major spoilers may be lurking in this area. Read at your own risk.

2. What will happen to Mark and Lexie?
3. Will Dr. Webber ever retire?
4. Will Dr. Bailey get it together?
5. Will George ever get another story line again?
6. Will they ever stop making ridiculous story lines for Izzie?

I avoided watching reality TV like the plague. I couldn’t imagine the appeal and I was vocal in my opinions. So, I was careful not to watch because I knew if I didn’t watch them, there was no possible chance I’d get sucked into them and end up looking like a fool. Also, I’d tune out conversations on the shows and their contestants for the very same reasons. With firm resolve, I managed to steer clear of Survivor, sidestep Amazing Race, and keep away from American Idol — even when William Hung was sweeping the nation.

And I was right. Sadly, I now know if I end up watching an episode, it’s all over — I’m addicted. My downfall: my mother, Bravo TV, Project Runway, and Top Chef. She blind-sided me when she turned Project Runway on one evening while I was at her house visiting. Before I knew it, I was spellbound.

My addiction started harmless enough with the scanning of the television waves for repeats of the episodes I’d missed while I’d sit on pins and needles waiting for the next week’s episode to air — desperate to see if the contestants I liked were going to make it to the next level or be eliminated. Before I knew it, I was deep in the thralls of reality TV and sat for hours talking about Project Runway and Top Chef with my mom — fighting over who were our favorites and who we wanted to get the ax — on which we could never agree.

As I watched the last episode of Project Runway’s last season, I vowed this was it — no more reality TV for me. But I was thwarted by the evil genius that is Bravo TV’s advertising. How dare they show trailers of the upcoming season’s Top Chef!
