The Pain That is the Disney Channel

March 17th, 2008 – 4:52 pm Posted by TK

As a father of two pre-teen daughters, I am constantly inundated with the world of Disney. My entertainment is filled with Radio Disney on my satellite radio and the Disney Channel on our TV. So, on this fine evening I have relegated myself to a half hour of punishment of watching an episode of Suite Life of Zach and Cody. Watching this is really painful for any adult who has more than six brain cells, but for your reading pleasure I wanted to give you a play-by-play of this riveting television event:

  • The show has a catchy opening theme song for a show with a premise that two adolescent boys live in a 5 star hotel, The Tipton.
  • This show is called “Going for the Gold” and is centered around the nerdy hotel engineer trying to win an Olympics-like event for hotel custodians
  • A never ending slapstick, predictable humor happens for the next 30 minutes. This is punctuated when the boys try to capture a cheater participating in the Olympics of Janitors, where the prize is a golden plunger.
  • When the Tipton’s nerdy janitor loses a stage of the competition he uses the great line of, “The best man flushed first.”
  • When the nerdy engineer wins and gets kissed with his trophy from Zach and Cody’s mom, he faints. Shocker.

All in all it was a complete waste of a half hour, and now you wasted a good two minutes reading about it!
